What was shown

In August 2014, E! News reported that tattoo artist Bang Bang gave Miley Cyrus a tiny crescent moon on the inside of her left arm. Cyrus then tattooed a matching moon on his thumb. The small black outline sits near her inner elbow; a later arm view shows its slender, open shape beside her other tattoos.
